COMPATH by Harjot Bal, Linh Do, Shuting Chang and Ryan Rizzo

COMPATH is a project that looks at a possible design innovation of the ‘PATH’, Toronto’s underground walkway. The design intervention involves a revamped digital navigation system (screen signage with updated useful information) and ceiling-suspended cylindrical-base units with a panoramic view of aboveground happenings and an interface to which passersby can send queries in real-time. The base of the units work like a compass and direct users to landmarks and intersections. Queries are accepted in the form of text messages.

Several rounds of design iterations as well as initial brain- and body- storming sessions were involved in the development of a comprehensive dossier.
